Sinossi

Revolts, Revolutions, and Riots are messy things.
Especially when they happen on another planet or out in space.
But that's what you get when you tick enough people off by stealing elections and when the courts and media hide the evidence.
So there's going to be some hurt feelings along the way.
Of course, these stories haven't really happened yet, and many are "impossible". Yet they were written before many of us were born, and most of their authors already long gone.
"Deplorables" isn't a new term. It happens all the time when some elite muckety-muck has too much Chardonnay and lets loose in an unguarded moment.
That won't change the fact that enough gets to be enough. And a good, old-fashioned revolt is the next obvious move...
This second volume is because there were too many space opera stories on this subject. Like these authors either saw a good niche to write their stories - or saw something in our future (our now-present?) that needed to be written or warned against.

Space Opera is a subgenre of science fiction that emphasizes space warfare, melodramatic adventure, interplanetary battles, chivalric romance, and risk-taking. Set mainly or entirely in outer space, it usually involves conflict between opponents possessing advanced abilities, futuristic weapons, and other sophisticated technology.
The term has no relation to music, as in a traditional opera, but is instead a play on the terms "soap opera", a melodramatic television series, and "horse opera", which was coined during the 1930s to indicate a formulaic Western movie. Space operas emerged in the 1930s and continue to be produced in literature, film, comics, television, and video games.

The Golden Age of Pulp Magazine Fiction derives from pulp magazines (often referred to as "the pulps") as they were inexpensive fiction magazines that were published from 1896 to the late 1950s. The term pulp derives from the cheap wood pulp paper on which the magazines were printed. In contrast, magazines printed on higher-quality paper were called "glossies" or "slicks".
The pulps gave rise to the term pulp fiction. Pulps were the successors to the penny dreadfuls, dime novels, and short-fiction magazines of the 19th century. Although many writers wrote for pulps, the magazines were proving grounds for those authors like Robert Heinlein, Louis LaMour, "Max Brand", Ray Bradbury, Philip K. Dick, and many others. The best writers moved onto longer fiction required by paperback publishers. Many of these authors have never been out of print, even long after their passing.

Short stories filled with “satire, mischief, and menace” by the author of The Talented Mr. Ripley (Harper’s Bazaar).   These ten stories chronicle a world gone slightly mad, with dark, inventive takes on environmental degradation, apocalyptic disaster, political chaos, religious conservatism, and more.   From a winner of both an O. Henry Award and a Silver Dagger Award, among other honors, and the author of Strangers on a Train, the basis for the classic Hitchcock film, this collection of short fiction is filled with “afterimages that will tremble—but stay—in our minds” (The New Yorker).   “Whereas we read Stephen King or Ruth Rendell to relish the thrills that come from carefully controlled verbal terror, Highsmith is not to be taken so lightly. She conveys a firm, unshakable belief in the existence of evil—personal, psychological, and political. . . . The genius of Tales—and all of Highsmith’s writing—is that it is at once deeply disturbing and exhilarating.” —The Boston Phoenix   “Combining the best features of the suspense genre with the best of existential fiction . . . The stories are fabulous, in all senses of that word.” —Paul Theroux

A taut police thriller featuring detective “Fang” Mulheisen—from a writer hailed as “the best-kept secret of hard-boiled crime fiction connoisseurs” (The New York Times Book Review).   When a cop guns down an intruder during a break-in, it seems like another case of a bad guy meeting a bad end—until the owner of the garage being burgled is revealed to be Jerry Vanni, a young man whose trucking empire is branching out into juke boxes and vending machines.   Detroit’s Det. Sgt. “Fang” Mulheisen knows that Vanni’s businesses are normally controlled by the mob—and when a pair of gunmen walks into a bar and fills one of Vanni’s jukes with lead, Mulheisen is sure there’s more trouble on the way.   His investigation leads him into an ever-growing criminal enterprise involving gun-smuggling Cubans, a million-dollar heist, and a gorgeous woman mixed up with both. It’s the kind of trouble that can get a good cop killed . . .    “Few color the police procedural with such bluesy riffs—or make it jump—the way Jackson does.” —Detroit Free Press

Struwwelpeter (Slovenly Peter) is an illustrated collection of humorous children’s poems describing ludicrous and usually violent punishments for naughty behavior. Hoffmann, a Frankfurt physician, wanted to buy a picture book for his son for Christmas in 1844. Not impressed by what the stores had to offer, he instead bought a notebook and wrote his own stories and pictures. While Struwwelpeter is somewhat notorious for its perceived brutal treatment of the erring children, it has been influential on many later children’s books, most notably Charlie and the Chocolate Factory. Dave Wilson could quite possibly be the world’s most frustrated husband. Ever since his wife Annie was promoted to Chief Operations Officer at SM Global, with a salary of more than a half-million dollars a year, she's become even bossier and more demanding at home than usual. Worse, the busier she gets, the less time and interest she has in sex.

He really should say something. But how can any man presume to make demands on a woman who’s now earning five times his salary?

But all that changes when he and Annie are called in to a meeting with the company VP Blair Stevenson. This cold, hard-driving young executive has some disturbing news for Annie. Ever since she started her new position, she's been overstepping her job description by trying to fix, remake, and undo everything she finds fault with

Well, Blair is having none of that! He informs Annie that if she wants to keep her job, she must be punished. And the method of punishment he's chosen is an over-the-knee spanking!

Annie is mortified--not to mention humiliated out of her mind.

And that's not the worst part. Following her spanking, Annie is informed that she is also in need of "training" in the art of following orders. And, given Blair's penchant for all things sleazy, one can only assume that these will bring Annie to a whole new level of humiliation!

Still, no matter how harrowing of an experience Annie is having, Dave is head-over-heels turned on by the spectacle playing out before him. On the one hand, he loves seeing Annie finally following orders from a man. But on the other hand, he simply can’t get over the fact that Annie is doing anything and everything Blair tells her to do!

Well, Dave is having none of that! He has no choice but to even the score. But he’d better be careful because, with what he has in mind, Annie just might find the whole thing even more mind-blowing than what Blair has just put her through!
