Summary

#worldsworstmum – you know you are doing it all wrong, but you do it anyway!
I wrote this series of stories to highlight something we women do too often. We judge, convict and have thrown the key away on ourselves daily!  In the age of Social Media, we are expected to be either perfect or complete trash!  Personally I’m neither, although killing my children (or thoughts of) occur daily!
I’m boring hence I attracted the name ‘Nanna’. I don’t drink excessively, gave up smoking many moons ago and I’m on my 2nd marriage – the first one I consider to be my marriage-learning study group, – now I’m onto the real thing – I hope to pass – but that’s another book!
I’m a workaholic, in that I don’t actually do ‘nothing’.  That Zen state isn’t for me – meditation is beyond my brains capability and well, I enjoy doing things – irrespective of how mind numbingly boring some might see them.  Drinking with the girls until I’m Pie-Faced is for others and as far as being the modern cupcake maker extraordinaire – let’s just say when your kids ask you not to bake their birthday cakes – you know you pretty much suck in that department.
Really, I am an average mum learning the ropes as I go, who happens to want to kill her offspring more than occasionally!  All I can throw on the table in my defence, is that raising my boys has been very much a solitary experience and that thankfully my Nanna has passed on and won’t be feeling mortified at these stories!
Where to start? Here are just a few moments in my own parenting life that give rise to these thoughts… Enjoy a giggle or two.  Grab a coffee and share this with friends – you might not feel so bad after a few chapters as a mum!

All the Things reminds us that motherhood is an all-encompassing art. It is ever-flowing and changing in its daily beauty and struggles. It is lifelong sanctification of hearts and minds. It is both the releasing of what we thought would be and embracing what truly matters. Most of us never anticipated the constant molding our hearts and minds would endure when we started our journeys. If we believed what the media tries to sell us, then all we needed was a well-stocked diaper stash, clothes that were prewashed and folded neatly, and a nursery color coordinated and filled with lovely things. However, motherhood is none of that. All the Things reminds us that what we truly need to be a mother can't be put in a nursery or tucked in a monogrammed backpack. It is wrapped in the friendships forged and the lessons we learn along the way. These lessons continue as nurseries change to toddler forts and then to teenage lairs. From season to season, the things that are most important in motherhood aren't things that can be held or truly seen at all. They ebb and flow from one momma's heart to another. They are the deep-rooted relationships of those on the journey with us that create a beautiful piece of artwork we call motherhood. All the Things breathes life into all the unspoken needs women have when navigating the journey of motherhood. From the need for authentic friendships to the struggles of losing oneself in the journey, Schindler writes with humor, honesty, and shares pertinent examples of God's grace through it all. This book will become one of the first ones you recommend for both new moms starting out and seasoned ones who are deep in the journey.

They became Christians in 2010 at their home church The River of Life Centre in Brisbane.Janet has always been able to put together rhymes but when she became a Christian at the age of 52 her friend and mentor Christine Gear, encouraged her to journal every morning. The verses and poems became a regular occurrence, words from God that would speak to what was occurring in her life. These words, that touched her own heart and spirit with unexpected messages from the pages of her journal, seemed to have an effect on others who read them too, and she would pass them to friends when she knew the word was for them.As a new Christian, Janet says she had no idea that God sometimes talks to us in these amazing ways. Her prayer for you is that somewhere in the words you find a connection in your spirit that speaks only to you, and that it will bring you something special.
