Vannak emberek, akik örülnek ha nyugodt életet tudnak élni, mások kalandokra vágynak. Kevesen gondolnak arra, hogy kalandos vándorlás várhat még rájuk a haláluk után is. Ez történik ebben a fantáziaregényben Mondéval. Miközben látszólag céltalanul kószál és segíteni próbál az embereknek,  állandóan nehézségekbe botlik, kalandokba keveredik. Akárcsak az emberek, ő is társakra talál, és akárcsak az embereknek, neki is döntenie kell, kikkel halad együtt s kikkel nem.
