يمتاز الشاعر عن غيره من البشر بإدراك ما لا يدركه الأشخاص العاديون، إنه الإنسان الذي يصغي إلى موسيقى الكون؛ من يمكنه أن يجلس ليراقب ضوء القمر، وتفتح زهرة اللوتس في المروج الخضراء .. تلك اللحظات لا تنفصل بدورها عن إدراك الشاعر لجذر الألم والمعاناة البشرية المحكوم بها كل كائن حي، انطلاقا من هنا نجد في قصائد الياس أبو شبكة في  هذا الكتاب نشيدا يجمع فيه جوقة من الأصوات التي تعبر عن نفسها، في وحدة متكاملة بن البشر والأشياء، هناك الراعي والحصادون وألحان الصيف وألحان الشتاء، وهناك طيور مغردة مثل البلبل والحسون تعبر عن نفسها بحرية وشجن.
