Sinopse

Shakespeare’s delightful romantic comedy about separated siblings, a woman in disguise, and a confounding love triangle. After Viola is shipwrecked in an exotic land on the coast of the Adriatic, she is convinced her twin brother, Sebastian, has been lost at sea. In a quest for survival, she dons men’s clothing, assumes the name Cesario, and takes a position in service of a duke. The duke recruits the help of “Cesario” to woo his beloved Olivia, who has steadfastly refused his advances, resisting romantic attachments as she mourns the loss of her father and brother. But soon, Olivia does succumb to a passionate love—for the person she thinks is a man named Cesario—in this rollicking play by the brilliant Bard.

The night that Greta thought of the opportunity to turn her life around, a strong and icy wind from the north was lashing the sea, she could still remember it. she made her mind up: she was going to run away.
Thus begins ”The long shadow of a dream”, lives intertwining, pride, recurring stories, emotions and passions… destinies.
Greta is a girl who decides to take her life in her hands but then realizes that she has never really broken away from her native land; she understands that a wound to be truly healed must be painfully cleaned up to get to the heart of the problem.
You need to go to hell and back in order to see the sky again.
Of course, nothing will ever be the same again, but this is the way to go if you want to live and not exist.
These are the strengths of this novel, it is well-structured, and easy to read.
A romantic novel which is not too romantic. It conceals countless ideas which are open to a number of interpretations, but which is above all the analysis of a man seen as a human being, at the mercy of an unpredictable life.

Robin Morgan’s second collection of poems is a rich tapestry of female experience, both literal and mythic Daughter, wife, mother, lover, artist, and even priestess are all here in shorter lyrics that cluster around four subjects: blood ties, activism and art, love between women, and archetypes. But Morgan surpasses the political grief and rage she delineated in Monster, her acclaimed first book of poems—especially in the four major metaphysical poems here: “The City of God,” balancing grace and despair; “Easter Island,” on the ironies of transcendence in embattled love; “The Network of the Imaginary Mother,” which became a virtual anthem of the women’s movement; and “Voices from Six Tapestries,” inspired by the famous Lady and theUnicorn weavings that hang in the Musée de Cluny in Paris.   Themes of familial love and hurt, mortality, survival, and transformation inform the poems collected here as the author weaves a wise and powerful self into being. Lady of the Beasts is Robin Morgan at her most lyrical yet.

Poetry is often cited as our greatest use of words. The English language has well over a million of them and poets down the ages seem, at times, to make use of every single one. But often they use them in simple ways to describe anything and everything from landscapes to all aspects of the human condition. Poems can evoke within us an individual response that takes us by surprise; that opens our ears and eyes to very personal feelings.

Forget the idea of classic poetry being somehow dull and boring and best kept to children’s textbooks. It still has life, vibrancy and relevance to our lives today.

Where to start? How to do that? Poetry can be difficult. We’ve put together some very eclectic Poetry Hours, with a broad range of poets and themes, to entice you and seduce you with all manner of temptations.

In this hour we introduce poets of the quality and breadth of John Dryden and William Morris as well as themes on Victorian Poetry, August, The Female Poet and more.

    The White Eyelash - Poems

A poetry collection of “peculiar grace” from the National Book Critics Circle Award finalist author of Dailies & Rushes (Brian Phillips, Poetry Magazine).   Susan Kinsolving’s first poetry collection, Dailies & Rushes, was hailed as a “brilliant debut” by the New York Times, and “grand and almost terrifying” by the New Yorker. In her new work, The White Eyelash, she turns the extremes of her recent experiences—especially those with her ageing, mentally ill mother—into poems of harsh factuality. This dark narrative sequence is highly contrasted by the humor presented in a section called “Light Fare & Oddballs.” Once again, Kinsolving exhibits a daunting range with signature style and substance.  “[The White Eyelash] finds the poet remembering her trouble mother, concentrating on visual detail or pursuing light-verse forms and verbal games with a demotically highbrow, casual grace. . . . Often organized around colors . . . these poems show a love for beauty and a casual line reminiscent of Eamon Grennan’s.” —Publishers Weekly

A darkly comic drama from an exciting new playwright.
In three linked scenes, all set in the same terraced house, three ill-matched pairs search for a new beginning - but the past won't let any of them go without a struggle.
Teenager Richard is plotting his escape to art college, just as lecturer Graham is settling in. Mum-to-be Laura has big plans for her forever home - if only Becci will sell it to her. And in the middle of the night, marine expert Mark has an unexpected visitor, a young woman with more than paddleworm samples on her mind...
A story of buried secrets and new beginnings, Forever House is the debut play of West Country-born writer Glenn Waldron. It's a pitch-black comedy drama that asks the question: can you ever really start again?
