A classic memoir of danger and adventure by a Scottish shark fisherman. In Hebridean Sharker, Tex Geddes describes his exploits during the 1950s as a hunter of basking sharks in the waters of the Minch, between the Inner and Outer Hebrides. Using an adapted whaling harpoon, he and his crew stalked these huge fish—their livers a valuable source of oil—often in perilous conditions. Always a maverick, Geddes had been a boxer and a rumrunner to Newfoundland before World War II. During the war he established a reputation as an expert knife-thrower and bayonet fencer and served in the Special Forces with Gavin Maxwell, celebrated author of Ring of Bright Water. He combined the hazardous pursuit of sharks with crewing the local lifeboat, ring-net fishing, lobstering, deer-stalking, and salmon poaching. He went on to purchase the tiny island of Soay, where he lived with his wife Jeanne, continued to hunt sharks. and became the Laird. This is his story, full of adventures and fantastic descriptions of a seagoing life in the islands.

"Bartleby, the Scrivener: A Story of Wall Street" is a short story by the American writer Herman Melville, first serialized anonymously in two parts in the November and December 1853 issues of Putnam's Magazine, and reprinted with minor textual alterations in his The Piazza Tales in 1856.
In the story, a Wall Street lawyer hires a new clerk who, after an initial bout of hard work, refuses to make copies or do any other task required of him, with the words, "I would prefer not to".
The narrator is an elderly, unnamed Manhattan lawyer with a comfortable business in legal documents. He already employs two scriveners, Nippers and Turkey, to copy legal documents by hand, but an increase in business leads him to advertise for a third. He hires the forlorn-looking Bartleby in the hope that his calmness will soothe the irascible temperaments of the other two...
Among the most significant works Herman Melville -
"Bartleby: La formula della creazione" (1993) of Giorgio Agamben and "Bartleby, ou la formule by Gilles Deleuze" are two important philosophical essays reconsidering many of Melville's ideas, "A Peep at Polynesian Life", "А Narrative of Adventures in the South Seas", "Mardi: And a Voyage Thither", "Redburn: His First Voyage", "White-Jacket; or, The World in a Man-of-War", "Moby-Dick; or, The Whale", "Pierre: or, The Ambiguities", "Isle of the Cross", "Bartleby, the Scrivener", The Encantadas, or Enchanted Isles", "Benito Cereno", "Israel Potter: His Fifty Years of Exile".

Never before has anyone explored the mind, soul, and heart of Ronald Reagan. The Search for Reagan explores the challenges and controversies in Reagan's life and how he successfully dealt with each, depicting a man who was never as conservative as some conservatives wanted him to be, but rather as conservative as he was comfortable being—a man who wanted to win on his own terms and integrity.

Ronald Reagan was a singularly unique man and conservative who championed a wildly successful revolution—leading to more freedom and less government for the American people and to the fall of communism, while boosting American morale. He was the first president in many years who believed optimism from the Oval Office had a direct bearing on the affairs of the nation. As a consequence, he left office more popular than when he entered, with a whopping 73 percent approval. He understood that American conservatism was based upon the individual and not the group. In his presidency, he solved the mystery of high inflation that had bedeviled his predecessor, high interest rates, and high gas prices. He created over twenty million new jobs, and the number of American millionaires grew from 4,414 to 34,944. He is considered by most historians to be one of our four greatest presidents, along with George Washington, Abraham Lincoln, and Franklin Roosevelt.
