When I look around at the world, I see events that are strikingly obvious should not be happening. There are so many crazy people, ideas, concepts and events going on right now all over the world at a time when we have to be rational and objective so that we can take ourselves out of the rush to extinction that all of these crazy people are sending us.I concluded we must, therefore, be in the Bizarro Universe. I started to think about the events in my life that made it change from a perfectly 'Normal' life, to the one I am sharing with all of you and realized that somewhere along the line, probably when I lost the love of my life, through no fault of my own, that this was the turning point and it propelled me into this 'Bizarro Universe'. The more I thought about it, the more the book you are about to read came into focus for me. I had studied lots of Quantum Physics and Astronomy in my life, so I came up with this theory you are about to learn about here. The biggest piece of evidence, was when I realized that in a standard deck of playing cards there are no 'ONES'. They all start from the 'TWOs". Why is that? I pondered and then realized that it's just exactly what you would expect in this Bizarre Universe, the NON RATIONAL ONE, the one we are all forced into by bad events in our lives. This, of course, would mean that there is also another universe out there, where my twin and your twin are living in which everything is correct, happy and the planet is not threatened with Extinction because everyone is doing the right things to reduce their carbon footprint, reduce crime, reduce political unrest, social injustice, etc. This made me realize that there must be bridges between the 'Good Universe', the one we were all meant for, This book is a roadmap for how to get back to your correct life in the opposite universe.

Rebel Ideas will strengthen any kind of team, while including advice on how, as individuals, we can embrace the potential of an "outsider mind-set" as our greatest asset. This program is read by the author.Ideas are everywhere, but those with the greatest problem-solving, business-transforming, and life-changing potential are often hard to identify. Even when we recognize good ideas, applying them to everyday obstacles—whether in the workplace, our homes, or our civic institutions—can seem insurmountable. According to Matthew Syed, it doesn't have to be this way.In Rebel Ideas, Syed argues that our brainpower as individuals isn't enough. To tackle problems from climate change to economic decline, we'll need to employ the power of "cognitive diversity." Drawing on psychology, genetics, and beyond, Syed uses real-world scenarios including the failings of the CIA before 9/11 and a communication disaster at the peak of Mount Everest to introduce us to the true power of thinking differently.A Macmillan Audio production from Flatiron Books

    The Science Delusion - Asking...

One of our most brilliant social critics-- author of the bestselling The Middle Mind-- presents a scathing critique of the " delusions" of science alongside a rousing defense of the tradition of Romanticism and the " big" questions. With the rise of religion critics such as Richard Dawkins, and of pseudo-science advocates such as Malcolm Gladwell and Jonah Lehrer, you' re likely to become a subject of ridicule if you wonder " Why is there something instead of nothing?" or " What is our purpose on earth?" Instead, at universities around the world, and in the general cultural milieu, we' re all being taught that science can resolve all questions without the help of philosophy, politics, or the humanities. In short, the rich philosophical debates of the 19th century have been nearly totally abandoned, argues critic Curtis White. An atheist himself, White nonetheless calls this new turn " scientism"-- and fears what it will do to our culture if allowed to flourish without challenge. In fact, in " scientism" White sees a new religion with many unexamined assumptions. In this brilliant multi-part critique, he aims at a TED talk by a distinguished neuroscientist in which we are told that human thought is merely the product of our " connectome," a map of neural connections in the brain that is yet to be fully understood. . . . He whips a widely respected physicist who argues that our new understanding of the origins of the universe obviates any philosophical inquiry . . . and ends with a learned defense of the tradition of Romanticism, which White believes our technology and science-obsessed world desperately needs to rediscover. It' s the only way, he argues, that we can see our world clearly. . . and change it.

Microbiology, along with mathematics, chemistry, and physics, is one of the fundamental branches of basic sciences. The knowledge and detailed study of microorganisms and their functions can establish its use in a variety of applications, from medical, food and environmental, agricultural and industrial field. Thus, microbiology is consolidated as one of the pillars of biotechnology. In this specification the modern general microbiology, which is aimed to study morphology, their arrangements and reactions to staining processes, physiology, metabolism, characterization and identification of microorganisms.
When entering the microbial universe, you will be able to multiply their knowledge, but as in every discipline, will not be the issue here started exhausted, providing the resumption and completion of the issues addressed through activities and study suggestions in the virtual teaching environment course learning. An important source of information will be electronic sites on microbiology. Also, so you can better enjoy this material, we suggest dear student, you make a careful reading of the text, also exploring the figures that accompany and illustrate the explanations. As in any way, or in any new situation, there will be challenging times, which will lead us to changes, which are essential for our training.

A maverick scientist reveals the inconsistent and often paradoxical ways humans think, feel, and behave toward animals in this engaging, informative, and though-provoking book, now newly revised.

Some We Love, Some We Hate, Some We Eat is a highly entertaining and illuminating journey through the full spectrum of human-animal relations. Drawing on his groundbreaking research in the field of anthrozoology, Dr. Hal Herzog tries to make sense of our complex relationships with animals and the challenging moral conundrums we face regarding these creatures who share our world—and some, our homes.

A blend of anthropology, behavioral economics, evolutionary psychology, and philosophy, updated to reflect evolving attitudes and the most recent findings, Some We Love, Some We Hate, Some We Eat is a poignant, often challenging, and frequently laugh-out-loud funny trip through a world of animal rights activists, cockfighters, professional dog-show handlers, veterinary students, biomedical researchers, and more. It will forever change the way we think about other living creatures and, ultimately, how we see ourselves.
