The Rubá’iyát of Omar Khayyam, in the famous translation by Edward FitzGerald, remains one of the most popular poems. It expressed the fascination of Victorian England with the Orient. Here, it forms the main work in the first half, along with other shorter poems by other leading Persian and Indian figures, including Rumi, Sa’di and Rabindranath Tagore. The second half is devoted to works written by Western poets on the theme of the East with The Veiled Prophet of Khorassan, an excerpt from Thomas Moore’s Lalla Rookh – one of the best-sellers of the early nineteenth century.

Uroš Zupan (1963) is one of Slovenia's most prominent contemporary poets and he has made his mark on Slovenian poetry of the past 30 years. Slow Sailing presents the author's own selection of the best of his best. This collection, which covers a period of more than two dozen years, is both personal and stern, since the author deals with his own poetry. From his delving into the golden age of his individual past to a sensuous hymn to soft summer light and the miracle of life that does not exist without the arts, Slow Sailing invites us to discover and re-discover one of post-independence Slovenia's most distinctive poetic voices, while also offering a unique insight into Slovenian poetry at the turn of the millennium.

The greatest Slovenian poet of the middle generation, his work has not been translated much (and not at all into English); the book is already part of the Slovenian canon and contains Zupan's own selection of his finest poems. He is already included in school literature curricula.

According to legend, the language of the birds was a mystical language God used to talk with Adam and Eve when he walked with them in the garden of Eden. Amy Nemecek listens for this divine dialect as she communes with God on her walks along country roads and creek banks, through forests and hayfields. She observes the world around her with expectation, knowing that God still speaks to us as he is at work making all things new. If we have ears to hear, we can catch snippets of his grace in the watercolor silhouette of a bird, the thrum of a tractor engine, the tang of a grapefruit, the curvature of an ampersand. Amy doesn' t want to miss any of it, so she remains attentive to the smooth grit of beach sand, the tendrils of a nebula, and the steady gaze of a fossil. She delights in the details, and you will too.In this collection of lyric and narrative poems, you are invited to walk with her as she reflects on larger themes of beauty, loss, motherhood, family, and vocation. She contemplates the sacredness of ordinary moments that we usually don' t recognize except in hindsight. Twining through every line is an aching hopefulness that ties together her love of words, her devotion to scripture, and her deep gratitude for each of life' s joys and griefs.“ Rub dust on your palms, pluck the ripened sunshine, and taste this poetic grace.” — Dwight Baker, president and CEO of Baker Publishing Group

Four riotous plays in one volume from a winner of an Outer Critics Circle Award: “A comic playwright of the first rank.”—New York Daily News

Renowned for his wicked camp humor and biting social satire, playwright and drag legend Charles Busch has delighted audiences both on and off Broadway. This book contains four of his works, among them Vampire Lesbians of Sodom, one of the longest-running plays in Off-Broadway history, of which the New York Times said “the female roles [Busch] creates are hilarious vamps, but also high comic characters…the audience laughs at the first line and goes right on laughing at every line to the end.”

Also included is the Tony-nominated Broadway hit The Tale of the Allergist’s Wife—a comedy about a self-absorbed Upper West Side woman whose life is devoted to mornings at the Whitney, afternoons at the Museum of Modern Art, and evenings at the Brooklyn Academy of Music, until her world is transformed by a visit from a childhood friend; The Lady in Question, a tribute to 1940s Hollywood that is both funny and suspenseful; and Psycho Beach Party, a cross between Gidget and Spellbound.
