For the very first time in audio, Dudley Sutton reads the pioneering science-fiction serial STORIES OF OTHER WORLDS: A HONEYMOON IN SPACE, written by George Griffith and originally published over 6 parts in Pearson Magazine at the end of the 19th Century in the UK. The adventures, here collected as one audio edition, see his newly married adventurers, exemplars of the “Race that Rules”, exploring planets in different stages of geological and Darwinian evolution on an educational odyssey drawing heavily on earlier cosmic voyages. Very much a product of its time, the stories hold up well against greats such as HG Wells and Conan Doyle.
A truly fantastic piece of Victorian science fiction.
As an explorer of the real world Griffith shattered the existing record for voyaging around the world at the behest of Sir Arthur Pearson, completing his journey in just 65 days. He also helped discover the source of the Amazon river. He died of cirrhosis of the liver, at the age of 48, in 1906.
In this collection, all six original short stories are brought together, and read by the legendary Dudley Sutton (know to so many as Tinker from the Lovejoy TV series):
Book 1: A Trip to the Moon
Book 2: The World of the War God
Book 3: A Glimpse of the Silent Star
Book 4: The World of the Crystal Cities
    Book 5: In Saturn’s Realm
    Book 6: Homeward Bound

After a brush with death that almost cost me everything, I managed to expose Izguril’s machinations and imprison the usurper god within me.

Now, with no more immediate threats to my survival, I wish that I could take some time to rest, but I can't. Because if the goblin village that has taken up residence within me is thriving, and more adventurers come every day to test their mettle against my traps and monsters, something is nagging at the back of my mind. A dark vision, that was confirmed by none other than the Mistmother—the goddess of foresight. In nine short years, Invaders will arrive in this world to raze it to the ground. Not a soul will survive. Nothing will remain.

That's why I cannot relax. I must gather as much strength as I can if I want to stand a chance to repel them. And to do that, there's no two ways about it: I need to expand the dungeon. I need to add more rooms and more treasures to make it more compelling, so that I may attract more seasoned adventurers. Because if the essence of novice adventurers might be enough to maintain my magic reserves, I need that of powerful warriors and wizards to reach the next level.

Referent by Ray Bradbury - The Life of a child genius was no fun, but Roby couldn’t escape it–until a falling star taught him how to rebel!
Roby Morrison fidgeted. Walking in the tropical heat he heard the wet thunder of waves on the shore. There was a green silence on Orthopedic Island.
It was the year 1997, but Roby did not care.
All around him was the garden where he prowled, all ten years of him. This was Meditation Hour. Beyond the garden wall, to the north, were the High I.Q. Cubicles where he and the other boys slept in special beds. With morning they popped up like bottle-corks, dashed into showers, gulped food, and were sucked down vacuum-tubes half across the island to Semantics School. Then to Physiology. After Physiology he was blown back underground and released through a seal in the great garden wall to spend this silly hour of meditative frustration, as prescribed by the island Psychologists.
Roby had his opinion of it. "Damned silly."
Today, he was in furious rebellion. He glared at the sea, wishing he had the sea's freedom to come and go. His eyes were dark, his cheeks flushed, his small hands twitched nervously.
Somewhere in the garden a chime vibrated softly. Fifteen more minutes of meditation. Huh! And then to the Robot Commissary to stuff his dead hunger as taxidermists stuff birds.

Arkady Demitriev decided he needed to join the dots. There was something he was missing. Simmonds’ presence in San Sebastian was totally out of character with the mundane life he had led up to that point in time, that is apart from his adventure into local real estate, when he had gambled all on the throw of a dice. His men quickly located the vehicle, it lay in the dense tropical vegetation that lined the road, its roof submerged beneath about half a metre of stagnant water. Not without difficulty they broke the back windows and threaded a steel cable through the Land Cruiser’s compartment, which they hooked onto the crane, then slowly winched the vehicle out of the swamp onto the flatbed of the recovery truck. As they pull the driver’s door open, a wave of fetid black water rushed out. Behind the wheel was what remained of Simmo, a black slime covered skeleton in shirt sleeves and pants, rotten and slumped over the wheel. He’d probably been knocked unconscious by the impact when his Land Cruiser was forced off the narrow road at about 100 km/h, drowning immediately.
