Summary

An Oath Sworn. A Struggle Engaged. A Sacrifice Required.
When Mara, a trained Oathtaker, is drawn by the scent of the Select to battle underworld beasts summoned by the powers of evil to destroy the guardians of life, she swears a life oath for the protection of her charge.
Armed with a unique weapon and her attendant magic, and with the assistance of her Oathtaker cohorts, two ancients, and a spymaster, Mara seeks safety for her charge from one who would end Oosa's rightful line of rule, and from assassins who endeavor to bring ruin to the land.
As Mara puzzles to decipher ancient prophecy concerning her charge, as she is haunted with memories of her own past failings, she discovers the price her oath will exact.
To renounce her word would be treasonous; to fail, ruinous; to persevere, tortuous.
Abiding by an oath requires sacrifice.

When the Wingman vanishes, it’s up to the remaining few to fight America’s latest invaders in this post-WWIII “sizzling hot” action series (Stephen Coonts).  Just as America is beginning to recover from nuclear war, her enemies attack again. As ace pilot Hawk Hunter battles the horde of Nordic mercenaries who have ravaged the East Coast, another army lands in California: the combined forces of the dictatorships of East Asia. The Second Axis is here. As always, Hunter leads the charge, flying his famous red, white, and blue F-16 into the invasion’s maw. But for the first time ever, the Wingman does not come out the other side. Their champion gone, America’s soldiers carry on in his absence, resorting to guerilla warfare in a desperate attempt to protect the country’s interior. As the hopeless battle wears on, rumors circulate that Hunter is out there somewhere, planning a counterattack. Until that glorious day comes, there is nothing America can do but hope. Return from the Inferno is the ninth book of the Wingman series, which also includes Wingman and The Circle War.

Colene does not know what to think of the stranger she has rescued. Darius tells her he has traveled from "his reality" to find her. In proving to Colene that other worlds do exist, he uses up the power of the artifact that would allow them to travel back to his universe.
They must try a slower, more dangerous method: the creation of a four-dimensional universe. Darius picks five anchor points in five different universes to set up a skew path, a "Virtual Mode," on which the anchors can walk.
Thus begins a tale of romance, danger, adventure, and intrigue as the two travel through a myriad of alternate realities where anything is possible.
