Sinopse

Mila Haugova has written a moving book about the farewell of loved ones and the slipping away of one's own life. The starting point is a double loss: her mother dies and her lover goes his own way. During her dead mother's childhood and distant past, the loved ones have faced a hoped-for future. Now only a reduced daily life remains, shot through with ever present memories. Haugova overlays the departed, and now recalculated, images of childhood and days spent with her lover. Is it possible to find some memory of lost warmth in this cold world?
Re-encounter and farewells are one in Haugova's poetry: there are intimate companions in the absence of loved ones, in the acceptance of their disappearance, which over time develop a cathartic force that makes possible new love.

On Christmas Eve, after Sean breaks one of the tree ornaments, a strange force shrinks both he and his sister Samantha down to ornament size. They meet an Old St. Nicholas ornament who tells them that in order to return to their normal height, they must talk to the magical Star Angel who resides at the very top of the Christmas Tree – and they must do so before sunrise, when the magic that brings the ornaments to life fades away and will turn them into ornaments as well. With the aid of the Cookie Dough Man ’66, Lighthouse, Sheriff and Pockets the tramp clown, they embark on a journey to the top of the tree. Blocking their way is the sinister Scrimshaw, a damaged ornament who lives on the “Empty Side” of the tree. Can they reach the Star Angel before first light?
With delightful songs by Jeffrey Gage, The Star Angel is a holiday musical adventure that will warm your heart for many Christmas Eves to come.

Oils is a gorgeous, beguiling collection of poems where the poise of the delivery belies the emotional, existential turmoil within.
Through his portraits of an atheist, a pickpocket and a spinach-loving sailor (among others), Stephen Sexton evokes a strange kind of melancholy as he strives to reconcile passion with detachment and profound self-doubt with unwavering love.
