Synopsis

Once upon a time, there lived a prince.
He made the people cringe and wince.
Prince David acted like he knew so much.
The truth was he was out of touch.
The decisions he made were never wise.
The negative outcomes just grew in size.
He saw no need to think things through.
Thinking was hard. He didn’t want to.
Every week he heard his advisers wail,
“Failing to plan is planning to fail.”
He brushed them off with a wave of his hand.
He was too ignorant to understand.
The prince ignored their advice.
Conceit was his greatest vice ...

This rhyming cautionary tale looks at the pitfalls of arrogance and conceit. It is approximately 670 words.

Riley has been asked to keep a very big secret by someone she loves and she is finding it really hard to cope. One day, Riley is brave enough to speak about what has been happening to her and how she feels about it. Our Secret is a storybook for children who have been through sexual harm and was written to provide children with the skills they need to protect themselves. This book also encourages children to always speak up if something goes wrong. This might sound like a story that children can't handle, but it's written in a way that is non-threatening for parents and children. Ideal for starting conversations about sexual harm, this is an essential resource for anybody supporting children aged 4-12 who may have been through similar experiences.

Life in New York is exciting enough that the girls can rise above life with Catherine, their mean cousin.
At work one day, Bridget finds a photograph of a young man between the pages of a book. She shows it to her employer Miss Cameron who dismisses it, but her blush and flustered manner intrigue Bridget; she soon discovers he was a suitor, but not allowed by Miss Cameron's family as he came from a poor background.
Meanwhile, the girls' friend Betty is sick. When she visited a free clinic the doctor suggested she move to a warmer part of the country, a prospect unimaginable to Betty, who can barely afford to feed and clothe herself. When poor Betty commits a crime out of poverty and desperation the girls don't know how to help. But can both stories have a happy ending?
