Can the four friends unite to fight back, or will they fall, divided and broken?
Praise for Last Night of Freedom
“Imagine the worst thing that could happen on a stag, then multiply that by a factor of several thousand. Last Night of Freedom preys on the rivalries, bravado, and toxicities on display as unchecked, booze-fuelled egos spiral out of control. This is a novel that takes place at a furious pace across a nightmare weekend, and I loved every desperate second of it.” David Moody, author of the Hater series and Shadowlocked=
“Last Night of Freedom is Dan Howarth’s grimy, dread-laden portrait of toxic masculinity and the English countryside. An unflinching depiction of a fetid, primal face of human nature, where barbarism hides behind the rotting mask of tradition. I couldn’t put it down.” Kev Harrison, author of Shadow of the Hidden and The Balance.
“Deliverance meets Dead Man’s Shoes… Does for stag parties what Jaws did for swimming.” W.A. Kelly - author of Safe Hands.

For Dex Foray, convincing Perry Palomino to open herself to their burgeoning relationship has been more challenging than hunting ghosts, battling demons, and stalking Sasquatch combined. Add in the fact that the only way they can keep their Experiment in Terror show running is to take on a third partner in the form of the mysterious Maximus Jacobs—all while investigating a sinister voodoo sect in New Orleans—and you've got the perfect Southern storm and a recipe for disaster. It was written in July 1917 and is one of the first stories that Lovecraft wrote as an adult. It is considered by many to be one of Lovecraft's most forward-looking stories. As to the name of the story, Lovecraft seems to be referring to the ancient Sumerian god named Dagon who is the fertility god of grains and fish, because in the story, the main character makes inquiries "....regarding the ancient Philistine legend of Dagon, the Fish-God."
The story is the testament of a tortured, morphine-addicted man who relates an incident that occurred during his service as an officer during World War I. In the unnamed narrator's account, his cargo ship is captured by an Imperial German sea-raider in "one of the most open and least frequented parts of the broad Pacific".  He escapes on a lifeboat and drifts aimlessly, south of the equator, until he eventually finds himself stranded on "a slimy expanse of hellish black mire which extended about [him] in monotonous undulations as far as [he] could see.... The region was putrid with the carcasses of decaying fish and less describable things which [he] saw protruding from the nasty mud of the unending plain." He theorizes that this area was formerly a portion of the ocean floor thrown to the surface by volcanic activity, "exposing regions which for innumerable millions of years had lain hidden under unfathomable watery depths. He explores and finds horrible and grotesque creatures, including a god. A rip roaring good tale of horror and terror to listen to. But maybe not alone.
