  Ecce Homo is a philosophical autobiography written by Friedrich Nietzsche towards the end of his life. In this work, Nietzsche reflects on his life, his philosophical views, and his legacy. The title, which means "behold the man" in Latin, is taken from Pontius Pilate's words when he presents Jesus to the crowd before his crucifixion. Nietzsche uses this phrase to present himself as a kind of messiah of a new philosophy, proclaiming the birth of a new era of thought. Ecce Homo is a complex and challenging work that has been interpreted in many different ways. It is now three months since Victor and Marigold moved to the mountain village of Meli, developing new friendships and marking their life-changing move with a traditional house blessing ceremony. Victor integrates into village life and improves his language skills by helping out at the local taverna, after sanitizing the place to his exacting hygiene standards. Barry's budding romance with Cynthia continues apace, whilst Marigold turns to a spot of matchmaking, arranging a dinner party for Meli's eligible bachelors and her best friend Geraldine who is over for a visit. 
   
   
   
  Following a late night brawl, Guzim goes on the missing list, creating a quandary for Victor as he contemplates the wisdom of bringing the disappearance of an illegal Albanian to the attention of the authorities. Victor experiences the ups of and downs of everyday Greek life; the up of the novelty of a sea dip in December even though the locals consider such behavior quite bizarre, and the down of being forced out of bed on a cold windy morning to bake bread for the village in an outside oven. As Victor settles into his new life he is haunted by the specter of his absconded parent turning up on his doorstep.

  A Ghost Story - From their pens...

  Samuel Langhorne Clemens was born in Florida, Missouri on the 30th November 1835 and is far better known by his pen name of Mark Twain.  An American writer and humorist of the first order he is perhaps best known for his novels ‘The Adventures of Tom Sawyer’ and its sequel ‘The Adventures of Huckleberry Finn’ which are often described with that mythic line The Great American Novel. 
  Twain grew up in Hannibal, Missouri which would later provide the backdrop to these great novels.  Apprenticed to a printer he also became a typesetter and then a master riverboat pilot on the Mississippi.  Later, heading west with his brother Orion to make his fortune, he failed at gold mining and instead turned to journalism and thence his true calling as a writer of humorous stories where his wit and humor sparkled from every paragraph, his craft evident with every page and punctured target. 
  A staunch supporter of copyright protections this helped him keep much of the wealth his writing created, though much money was also lost on investments that he pursued in his love for science and technology as well as investing in his own inventions. 
  Twain was born during a visit by Halley’s comet, and he predicted that he would go out with it as well.  He died the day after its subsequent return on 21st April 1910, at his house, Stormfield, located in Redding, Connecticut.
