Synopsis

A short story featuring Tess Monaghan, New York Times Bestselling author Laura Lippman’s acclaimed private eye 
Tess Monaghan and Whitney Talbot witness an altercation between a boorish restaurant patron and a shoeshine man. When it is discovered that the mild-mannered shoeshine man is wanted for a murder that occurred 40 years in the past, a friend of Tess's asks her to investigate and the case turns out to be full of surprises.
