Thirty-something veterinarian Ally Winter has found a new leash on life since she moved back to her hometown of Willow Bluff, Wisconsin. But when she takes Domino, the black standard poodle she's boarding for the weekend, for a sunny September stroll along the shore of Lake Michigan, the diminutive dog dashes off, only to return with a single polka-dotted high-heeled shoe. Retracing Domino's paw prints back to a weeping willow tree, they find the other shoe. It's still on the foot of twenty-year-old Pricilla Green—lying dead beneath the willow, with a silk scarf knotted tightly around her neck. Willow Bluff's finest—and handsomest—detective, Noah Jorgenson, is soon on the tail of the killer. But he has another worry on his mind when Ally's grandfather, a lifelong true-crime buff, starts to suspect that the recent burglary of a local big-box store may have some connection to Pricilla's murder. Noah cautions Ally to keep Gramps well away from the homicide investigation, but the old dog is drawn to danger like a puppy is to a squeaky ball. The fur flies as Ally, Noah, Gramps, and Domino race the clock to fetch the felon. It will take all of their canine canniness to comb out the twists and curls in this wild and woolly case. And if they fail, they won't live to go walkies again.

🦃 Event planner and pie shop owner Autumn "Pumpkin" Spice is organizing her small town's annual Turkey Trot charity race when the race's major sponsor—a notoriously competitive local businessman—collapses at the finish line, a mysterious substance contaminating the celebratory giblet gravy. The police suspect a heart attack, but Pumpkin notices the race route was deliberately altered and the victim's sponsorship documents contain coded notes about financial irregularities. With the Thanksgiving festival in chaos and the town's traditions threatened, Pumpkin must race against time to solve the case. Assisted by her baking staff and the handsome food safety inspector analyzing the tainted gravy, Pumpkin uncovers a scheme involving charity fund embezzlement, race fixing, and a plot to sabotage local businesses. From suspicious timing chips that reveal race manipulation to gravy ingredients that don't match the recipe, every clue tells a story. But when Pumpkin discovers the victim was systematically skimming charity funds meant for the town's food bank, she realizes the killer is protecting community welfare more valuable than any sponsorship deal. With Thanksgiving dinner approaching and the real embezzler still cooking the books, Pumpkin must baste together the evidence before her own business gets permanently stuffed.

Everyone’s favorite moral philosopher and amateur sleuth, Isabel Dalhousie, is
back and once again finds herself facing a number of tricky situations and
philosophical questions, both public and private.
Isabel’s life has fallen into a comfortable and tidy rhythm. Well, as tidy as things
can be with two small boys wreaking havoc around the house. But when her
husband, Jamie, invites a woman named Dawn—recently embroiled in a
contentious affair with a member of Jamie’s orchestra—to stay with them, things
begin to go awry. Strange noises can be heard from the upper floor, even when
Dawn is supposedly at work, and the couple wonders whether something more
    nefarious may be afoot.
If that weren’t enough, Professor Robert Lettuce is staging an academic
conference and has asked Isabel to publish the conference papers in a special
issue of the Review of Applied Ethics. But something is definitely suspect about
the funding, and it will be up to Isabel to sort it out. As the truth comes to light,
Isabel must once more rely on her kindness, powers of deduction and
philosophical expertise to navigate these sensitive matters.
