Every adventure requires a first step.
Emma did not know where all her early morning ideas came from. Her mother said it was because she was seven years old and filled with interestingness.
How does anybody know if outrageous ideas can't happen if they have never tried?
On that early Saturday morning, although Emma's morning idea was simple, it was also outrageous. Her idea was simple because of what she needed to do - decide on her favorite word, write the word on a piece of paper, place the paper in a bottle, and let the bottle float away into the mighty ocean. Emma's idea was outrageous because the ocean would carry the bottle on a magical journey, during which special young people who discovered the bottle would add their very own favorite words and, perhaps, - maybe, probably, finally, - the bottle would return to Emma's island.
Follow the bottle as it navigates unforeseen obstacles and is discovered in exotic far-off places by some very special young children.
Will the bottle survive the magical journey? Might the bottle be captured by a ruthless pirate, swallowed by a gigantic whale, or crushed by a talking polar bear? What if the young people who discover the bottle do not dare to return the bottle to the mighty ocean?
    A magical journey of words.
The examples of positive character traits (adventure, creativity, resilience, integrity, empathy etc.), will resonate with young readers/listeners who are navigating their very own mightily curious life journey.Suitable for young independent readers. The perfect adventure story for adult directed bedtime reading.

From Newbery Medalist Cynthia Kadohata comes a brilliantly realized sports novel about a hockey player who must discover who he is without the sport that defines him. Hockey is Conor's life. His whole life. He'll say it himself, he's a hockey beast. It's his dad's whole life too-and Conor is sure that's why his stepmom, Jenny, left. There are very few things Conor and his dad love more than the game, and one of those things is their Doberman, Sinbad. When Sinbad is diagnosed with cancer, Conor chooses to put his hockey lessons and practices on hold so they can pay for Sinbad's chemotherapy. But without hockey to distract him, Conor begins to notice more. Like his dad's crying bouts, and his friend's difficult family life. And then Conor notices one more thing: Without hockey, the one thing that makes him feel special, is he really special at all?

This is a children's book regarding bullying and judging others before getting to know them. The book uses black and gray squirrels to help illustrate how these lessons may be learned.
Patricia A. Thorpe was a resident of Wisconsin for most of her life until she retired from Certegy as a credit card manager in 2003. In 2006, she moved to Mesa, Arizona where she resides today. She returns to Wisconsin where she spends time with her four sons and five grandchildren during the summer months.
Patricia recalls buying many children's books when her sons were young children. She felt reading to her children was paramount and bought many children's books to read to them as learning methods. When her sons were going to start school, she found a book that she felt could assist them in learning what they may experience and feel on their first few days of school. Patricia found a book to help her sons learn their ABCs, simple math calculations, the importance of following the Golden Rule, and most importantly lessons from Aesop's Fables.
During the seven years Patricia lived on Lake Kristine in northern Wisconsin, she found herself looking out of the large window from her dining room. From there she observed many different kinds of birds and animals interacting with one another.
The memories of buying children's books for her sons led her to decide to create a children's book with a storyline about a hummingbird she lovingly called "Harry." She hopes to create other children's books in the future for young children to enjoy and assist them in learning important life lessons.
