Synopsis

When the magical Castle Perilous goes haywire, guests find themselves venturing into bizarre other worlds that could bring the castle crumbling down. Castle Perilous is a magic castle full of mystery and adventure, but sometimes even magic castles can go awry. This particular castle has the power to send its guests to 144,000 alternate worlds, each a fantastic voyage to the unknown. But each voyage seems to backfire. Computer whiz kid Jeremy is stuck on a planet of golf-playing dinosaurs. Gentrified Gene finds himself on a planet overrun with amazon women where the queen has taken a particular shine to him and only the Lord of the Castle Incarnadine can stop this witty madness from shaking Castle Kidnapped to its foundations.

    TODAY WAS FINALLY THE DAY.
I bounded out of bed and checked the calendar hanging above my desk just to be sure, grinning when I saw the circled date. It was September 1st, and that meant I was finally old enough to apply for my dungeon diving license.
The excitement gripped me as I brushed my teeth, dripping toothpaste all over the sink as I stared back at myself in the mirror. Today wasn’t my birthday—that had happened a couple months back.
The first day of September was important because on this date every year, Dungeon Divers United, a special guild that monitored and maintained all the dungeons in the country of Aspatria, decreed that anyone who had either turned twenty years of age in the six months prior to September 1st, or would turn twenty years of age in the six months following, were allowed to try out for diving licenses.
And there was nothing in this world that I wanted more than to be a dungeon diver. Not just any diver though, but the one who completed the Path of Progression.
The Path of Progression was comprised of the Big Five dungeons of Aspatria. They were ranked from easiest to hardest, and only the most talented and experienced divers completed all five of them. If you managed to defeat the boss at the bottom of the fifth dungeon, you were rewarded with more riches than you knew what to do with as well as more fame than you could possibly imagine.
It wasn’t just the riches that drew me though. It was the sense of adventure. It was testing myself in ways that I’ve never been tested. There was also a legacy aspect to it as well, as I was reminded that morning when I entered the kitchen for breakfast.
My mother was standing over the toaster right as two waffles popped into the air. She caught them with the help of the plate and then dropped three dollops of butter on each of them in the shape of a smiley face. To complete the plate, she drizzled some syrup on each of them.

Tessa and her kind are sick and tired of being the victims. Now is payback time!
"Shooting pool all by yourself can be fun for a little while, but it gets boring in the end, and I had been doing it for two days in a row now. All I knew was that this was where the recruiter was likely to show up. I hoped that my platinum blond hair and my innocent blue eyes would be enticing enough for him to hit on me; otherwise, I would have to find another way.

But wait a minute--you have no idea what this is all about, right? And you may be wondering what blond hair and blue eyes I'm blabbering about when you know very well that my hair is light brown and I have (beautiful, if you ask me) green eyes. I guess I'll better start from the beginning."

"With a smooth, wry touch, Bill Fortin spins a page-turning Cold War tale capturing both the great bravery and the occasional comic moments – some intentional, some classic SNAFUs – of U.S. military intelligence saving the world from Russia invasion."
    – W.E.B. Griffin & William E. Butterworth IV, #1 New York Times and Wall Street Journal Bestselling Authors
"I was receiving an education that normally would take most career NCOs years to gain. I was being groomed for something but not sure for what. They knew I was getting out in a few months. Maybe they hoped I would change my mind.
I had always supposed there were worse ways to spend your life. I didn’t think that was true any longer. The decision making and the acceptance of responsibility was becoming second nature. Truth be told, I was really starting to like this time in service. The company of soldiers was the strongest feeling of friendship I had ever experienced. I wondered if it was because the stakes were always so high, the individual trust held tight but always given with purpose. We became one and counted on each other for everything."
    - Bill Fortin, Author & CEO, Cold War Publications, LLC
Set in 1969 West Germany; the deployment of the newly developed Redeye weapon system is positioned in the 3rd Armored Division’s 1st/48th Infantry Battalion. The Redeye technology would become a very important part of American military history.
