Beschreibung

A gripping new version of Strindberg's masterly, darkly hilarious depiction of the struggles and strains of marriage.
Meet Edgar and Alice. Married for over thirty years, theirs is a relationship of explosive mutual loathing. Strindberg's tale paints a compulsive and bitterly funny portrait of a magnificently doomed couple, whose ongoing battle threatens not only their future, but that of their friends and children as well.
This new version offers audiences a unique chance to see not only Part One but also the rarely performed Part Two of this masterpiece of European theatre condensed into a single two-act drama.
'ferociously intense... a howl of primitive power' The Times
'a blistering account of a mildewed marriage' Whatsonstage.com
'Howard Brenton has worked wonders... this fresh and exciting new version demands to be seen' British Theatre Guide

How to fill what's left of your day. How to fill the rest of your days. Sick buckets, bucket rattling, bucket lists, buckets of love.
Wry, emotive, funny and heartfelt, buckets is a play with a unique perspective on a universal dilemma: how do you deal with the fact that time always runs out?
Across thirty-three interconnected scenes – some just a few lines, others mini-plays in their own right – buckets swings through a kaleidoscopic world of sadness and happiness, illness and health, youth and experience, kissing and crying, singing and dying.
Adam Barnard's open-ended text can be performed by any number and composition of actors.
buckets premiered at the Orange Tree Theatre, Richmond, in May 2015.

This is a whimsical poem that takes the reader on a sailing hunt for the mythical Snark. The Bellman, the Butcher, the Baker, the Beaver and others named and unnamed provide a fast-paced, almost maniacal, romp to find the ellusive Snark. In the reading, you begin to suspect that Dr. Seuss may have found some inspiration from Carroll. The reading is a fast ride of thirty minutes and is suitable for children and adults alike. Valued Friends is a comedy of manners about the property market which won both the Evening Standard and Critics' Circle Awards when it was first performed at Hampstead Theatre, London, in 1989.
Four people live together in a large old house in London. They include Sherry, a wacky girl trying to make it as a comedienne; Paul, a pop music journalist; Paul's girlfriend Marion; and Howard, who is writing a left wing analysis of the corruption of capitalism under the Thatcher government. They all are perfectly content living where they are; until, that is, a developer offers them a huge sum of money to vacate. Soon, their talk about music and idealism gives way to heated discussions about real estate, capital appreciation and negotiating tactics. They decide that they can force the developer to raise his offer by renovating the house; and three years of this leave them with a huge capital gain, and a deep spiritual loss.
'I had the great pleasure of working with Stephen Jeffreys on his play, The Libertine. Would that all playwrights had his openness, his talent, his hard-headedness, his experience, his enthusiasm, his complexity, and perhaps best of all his talent and interest in eliciting the best in others' - John Malkovich
'Stephen's plays always bear the kitemark of unique, handcrafted quality' - Ian Rickson
