Summary

Syria, 2014. In the town of Kobane, there's a siege as fierce as Stalingrad. ISIS, having steam-rollered through Iraq, are expecting to take the town easily. But the citizens have found a heroine: a crackshot sniper with 100 kills to her name. And she appears indestructible. She's the legendary Angel of Kobane.
Inspired by an extraordinary true story, Angel is part of Henry Naylor's Arabian Nightmares trilogy. It was first performed at the Edinburgh Fringe Festival 2016, where it won a Fringe First award.

This ambitious debut interrogates love and faith in the contemporary world. Grounded in the relationship of a profoundly religious woman and an atheist, the collection's central characters both become inextricably identified with the Old Testament King and Psalmist David. These free-verse psalms transplant all of the ancient form's tropes - vivid eroticism, praise, questioning, triumph, doubt, and lush naturalism - into modern Wales.

For many of us Autumn, or as the Americans would say; Fall is the season of mixed emotions. Summer’s long days are replaced by a chill in the air. The colours on the trees and fields ripen to warmer hues and the harvest is brought safely home. Yet with this bounty there is the knowledge that Nature is turning her attention to the harder, colder Winter month’s ahead. Our collection of poems amplifies this balance between the loss of summer and the gain of the harvest with wonderful poems by such notables as Shelley, Yeats, Keats, Sheehan, Emily Dickinson and Longfellow. This collection is read for you by Ghizela Rowe and Gideon Wagner.

LibriVox readers present the seventh collection of monologues from Shakespeare’s plays. Containing 20 parts. William Shakespeare (April 26, 1564 – April 23, 1616) remains widely to be considered the single greatest playwright of all time. He wrote in such a variety of genres - tragedy, comedy, romance, &c - that there is always at least one monologue in each of his plays. Some of these teach a lesson, some simply characterize Shakespeare at his best, some are funny, some sad, but all are very moving. Each monologue will touch everybody differently. Some people will be so moved by a particular monologue that they will want to record it. (summary by Shurtagal)
