Sinopse

Gairfield is a paranormal fantasy set in the Midwestern north shore town of Garfield and shifts to the parallel world of Gairfield, where the pace of time is but a fraction of that in Garfield and which favors between its people replace the concept of an exchange medium and their lifetime spans thousands of years. In a matter of hours, weeks will pass in Gairfield. A dark plague has beset itself upon Gairfield eating away the land and its inhabitants, a dark shroud closing around the people from the sky above dissolving all color below to a drab gray. When someone comes in contact with a person or thing infected, they too are claimed and eventually turn to dust after their bodies are completely engulfed in the gray dread.

The teens, Freddie, Ruth, and K-Z are transported through a portal by the ragman, Ol’ man Higgins. They arrive in Gairfield as the coming of the three, Sir Fredrik, Ruchelle the beauty, and the young, witty one—each gaining magical powers, although K-Z’s body does not also gain ten years. Also transported through are terminally ill Billy, to become the vengeful knight Sir Willem, and Nick, a dark-hearted teen who emerges as Nicolas, a young man haunted by his shame and guilt. The three unite with Circles, who has waited for their coming many, many years along with other members of The Guard, all immune to the plague and guardians of Princess Laurel, who entered Gairfield at the peak of the plague and rids it from their world.

In doing so, Laurel absorbs all this evil, becoming a witch identifiable only by those who have been freed from her spell. She plans to conquer Gairfield and build her own world after procreating with Sir Fredrik. Joined by Sir Willem, she builds an army of beasts, Flatheads and Bloodbirds, monsters that have been lying in wait to avenge their ancestors.

Unbeknownst to them, the villagers of Gairfield have waited for Sir Fredrik, Ruchelle the beauty, and the young, witty one to save them from Laurel’s devilish plans. She makes an appearance at their thousand-year celebration, the Great Feast, preceding the year-long Snow that will bury the entire land under mountains of snow. Laurel’s five-day assault on their fortress, the village hall, is launched during the thaw of the Snow. The three are reinforced by the Water People and other interesting allies, both beast and bird. The epic battle leads to a chase and showdown at the fortress built in willow trees by Circles and ultimately at the farm where resides Beautiful Dorothy of the Garden, whose role there is to serve as the caretaker of Gairfield, its people and wildlife, but confined to the garden borders, lest she invite death to her doorstep. Come visit Gairfield, where there is something in the air.
