When Elodie applies for the job of librarian in peaceful Willow Grove, she’s looking forward to a new start. As the daughter of a media empire, her every move has been watched for years, and she longs to work with the thing she loves most: books.
It’s a chance to make a real difference too, because she soon realises that there are other people in Willow Grove who might need a fresh start – like the homeless man everyone walks past without seeing, or the divorcée who can’t seem to escape her former husband’s misdeeds.
Together with local journalist Finn, Elodie decides these people have stories that need sharing. What if instead of borrowing books readers could ‘borrow’ a person, and hear the life stories of those they’ve overlooked?
But Elodie isn’t quite sharing her whole story either. As the story of the library’s new success grows, will her own secret be revealed?

    Dysfunctional Regulatory Bodies...

BruceG is a Professional Grower in the Kingdom of Aspen trying to complete an environmental plan to protect the aquifer at Justin’s feedlot. But, he is continually thwarted by “systemic discrimination” being practiced by Professional Builders from a “dysfunctional” government regulatory body because they believe only builders can do feedlot plans.
    A ‘turf war” pursues.
Queen Mara, a Political Appointee within the Ministry, takes up the builder’s cause and decrees only builders can do feedlot designs. She threatens closure of Justin’s Better Beef Haven. BruceG fights back and Queen Mara files a complaint against him for challenging her edict and offending her ego.
Now BruceG has to deal with a scarecrow, his own self-regulatory body, the League of Growers, who decides on complaints and can discipline its’ members. The ensuing investigation is fraught with biases contributing to procedural unfairness.
Saving Justin’s feedlot and protecting the aquifer hangs in the air.
The author, Doug Cameron, has worked close-up and “in the face of” various regulatory bodies for over 40 years. He is familiar with their legislated power and the harassment and abuse they can dish out when challenged—all hidden from the public. The lack of an overseer to rein-in scarecrows gone awry is a major issue.
This book uses satire to expose the inner workings, stupidity, biases and unnatural justice used by reg-bodies to protect their own self-interests and/or self-image rather than protect the interests and well-being of the public.

Are you a self-proclaimed "momager" or "dadager?" Do you think your kid is the ultimate best? This is the book for you!

Dear parents everywhere—we get it, you love your kid. But, let's face it: no matter how much you praise them, your kid is most likely not the next child prodigy. Be that as it may, we are pretty sure the neighbors are tired of hearing about how the fruit of your loins got the lead in the school play or scored the most points in the last game when they are just trying to grab a burger at the barbecue.

    ● Your kid can carry a tune? Shut up, they are not the next Whitney Houston.

    ● Your kid scored the most goals out of anyone on the soccer team? Shut up, they are not the next Cristiano Ronaldo.

    ● You didn't get straight As but your kid does? Shut up, they are not the next Elon Musk . . . although they might be one of his kids.

    ● Your kid spends 24/7 on their phone and has a TikTok account? Shut up, they are not the next big online influencer or YouTuber.

Filled with brief banter and an inspiring introduction with Tom Brady Sr., this book is sure to add a much needed laugh or two to every parent's day!
