Sinopsis

In "Two Boy Gold Miners; Or, Lost in the Mountains," Frank V. Webster crafts an exhilarating adventure that captures the indomitable spirit of youth amid the promise and peril of the American frontier. The narrative follows two boys on a quest for fortune during the gold rush, intertwining themes of friendship, perseverance, and the trials of nature. Webster employs a vivid, accessible prose style suited for a younger audience, while embedding rich descriptions of the mountainous landscape, evoking both wonder and trepidation. This novel belongs to the literary tradition of adventure novels from the late 19th century, echoing the grand narratives of exploration and discovery that characterized American literature of the time. Frank V. Webster, an author known for his engaging juvenile fiction, was deeply inspired by the transformative era of westward expansion in America. His robust storytelling often reflects the challenges faced by young boys striving for adventure while grappling with moral dilemmas. Webster's own experiences growing up during a time of immense change likely influenced his portrayal of youthful ambition and resilience against daunting odds. This book is highly recommended for readers seeking an exciting yet thoughtful adventure that encourages imagination and resilience. It serves not only as an entertaining story for children but also as a portal into an essential period of American history, stimulating both curiosity and a sense of wonder about the world.

he American Revolution had no shortage of compelling characters with seemingly larger than life traits, including men like the multi-talented Benjamin Franklin, the wise Thomas Jefferson, the mercurial John Adams and the stoic George Washington. But no Revolutionary leader has been as controversial as Samuel Adams, who has been widely portrayed over the last two centuries as America’s most radical and fiery colonist.
Among his contemporaries, Samuel Adams was viewed as one of the most influential colonial leaders, a man Thomas Jefferson himself labeled “truly the Man of the Revolution” and the one who the Boston Gazette eulogized as the “Father of the American Revolution.” Samuel was an outspoken opponent of British taxes in the 1760s, one of Boston’s hardest working writers and orators, a leader of the Boston Caucus, active in the Sons of Liberty, and a political leader who organized large gatherings in settings like Faneuil Hall and the Old South Meeting House. When cousin John Adams was an Ambassador to France during the Revolution, he had to explain that he was not the “famous” Adams.
John Adams remained a celebrated figure in Boston for all the work he did in Massachusetts before and after the Revolution, but his national reputation has experienced quite a renaissance over the past decade, beginning with David Mccullough’s best selling biography in 2001, followed in 2008 by the popular HBO series based on it.
While her time as First Lady was important, Abigail Adams remains one of the most recognized and respected First Ladies in American history due to her voluminous correspondence with John when they were separated throughout the American Revolution.
n addition to being the first son of a president to become president himself, John Quincy Adams also managed to be a U.S. Senator, a U.S. House Representative, a Secretary of State, and an ambassador to several countries.

Told through "moments of despair, heartbreak, laughter, and triumph" (Kirkus), this "inspiring" (Booklist) and "hopeful" (School Library Journal) memoir tells the true story of how a modern teen girl and her Holocaust-survivor friend fought against hate to create change.    In 2018, fourteen-year-old Claire Sarnowski stood with ninety-two-year-old Alter Wiener in front of the Oregon state senate to champion a cause the two friends both believed in: making Holocaust education mandatory in their state’s public school curriculum. Theirs was an unexpected friendship—she was in elementary school when they met, and he was an aging Holocaust survivor whose memoir she had read—and together they were going to change the American education system. Alter had spent decades speaking to audiences of all ages and backgrounds about the Holocaust, teaching that “never forgetting” could help spread tolerance and prevent such an atrocity from happening again. But Claire knew hate crimes were still being committed, in her own town and even in her own school. She didn’t want Alter’s efforts on Holocaust education to be in vain. From strangers to friends to law-changing history makers, Claire and Alter’s mission was always simple: Remember this story. This page-turning memoir is a tribute to a man who survived the worst of humanity, an ode to friendship and community, and an empowering call to activism.
