A serial killer is stalking the nighttime streets of Chicago. He leaves his victims with their throats torn out and their bodies completely drained of blood. He's killed dozens. His first two victims were cops. Detective Dennis Coglin is desperate to catch him before he kills again, but is this murderer just a vicious maniac, or is he something else entirely—something far beyond the power of the law and police routine? The sun will set in blood and the night will come for many more before this killer is stopped for good.

Is there anything scarier than a homicidal hospital?

There's no love lost between Imogene and her boyfriend's mother. But when Eleanor is admitted to a sanatorium for her migraines, Imogene takes the high road and visits.

The hospital is housed in a creepy mansion with a chilling past. The medicines being used are a throwback to the days of snake oil and superstition. And while she's there, Imogene bumps into a newly deceased patient.

As hauntings go, this ghost steals the show. And everything else. Turns out Becky Riddell was being treated for kleptomania. Her influence is hard to resist.

Things take a sinister turn when dead bodies start popping up around the sanatorium at an alarming rate. Imogene knows she should investigate, but the last thing she needs is more drama in her life. She has enough thanks to the poltergeist that's been dogging her steps for the past month.

However, if Imogene doesn't figure out who's killing off patients and why, she'll have to move out of her apartment. Thanks to Becky's compulsion, she's pinched so much stuff, there's barely enough room for her and her cat. Besides, El would never forgive her if his mother became one of the not-so-dearly departed.

In this eclectic and impressive collection, thirteen novelists were asked to build their tales around the photo of a dilapidated mansion. They were given two requirements—the house must appear in the story, and it should be a Southern Gothic tale. And they delivered.

Gear up for a frightful jaunt into the darkest reaches of the ancient Appalachians.
Folks deep within the Appalachian hollers lean close to the campfire to share stories of the inexplicable with hushed awe. Monsters rumbling in the hills. Strange lights darting through the pitch-black night sky. Horrible occurrences, almost ineffable in their bizarre tragedy.
    "Tall tales," you might say.
Tell that to the Flatwoods monster in Braxton County, West Virginia. Or the Goat Man of Louisville—look into his humanoid eyes and let him know you don't believe. And what of those apparitions in Mammoth Cave's Corpse Rock, or the Satan-spawn known as the Jersey Devil that attacked a trolley car? How do you respond when confronted by these mysteries?
From metaphysical energy that swirls near the Serpent Mound in Ohio to Point Pleasant's Mothman legacy, Mark Muncy and Kari Schultz explore the dark history lurking in the shadows of Appalachia.
Ready by Mark Muncy, author and expert on the strange with appearances on shows such as Ancient Aliens, Ripley’s Believe it or Not, Return of Robert the Doll, and more!
