This provocative book takes a critical look at what is increasingly viewed as the central political issue for Catholics—abortion. From pro-choice politicians being denied communion to Democrats being called "the party of death," for some of the most vocal Catholic leaders, the abortion issue often trumps all others. The author, a practicing Catholic who is against abortion in principle, believes the Church is on the wrong course with this issue, with grievous results for the Church and American society more broadly. He gives a brief history of abortion legislation, then explores the issue from legal, moral, and Christian perspectives, presenting compelling reasons why Church leaders and Catholics should stop trying to overturn Roe v. Wade and reconsider the issue.

Spend 24 hours immersed in the rich and fascinating everyday lives of the Vikings.

Between the infamous Lindisfarne raid in 793 CE and the Norman conquest of 1066, the peoples we know now as the Vikings became one of the most far-ranging and influential civilizations in history. The Vikings are frequently portrayed as raiders, marauding across medieval Europe and Britain, but the culture and society of the medieval Nordic peoples was so much more diverse, multifaceted and influential than it is often depicted.

In 24 Hours in the Viking World, author and Viking expert Kirsten Wolf chronicles an hour in the life of 24 individuals from every corner of Viking society over the course of a single day. From the warrior to the thrall, the shipbuilder to the farmer, the poet to the oracle, each chapter offers a snapshot of the world as it was in medieval Scandinavia, and an insight into how these people lived, loved, worked, fought and died.

The latest entry in the bestselling 24 Hours series, 24 Hours in the Viking World presents an absorbing, grounded, and tangible look at what it was really like to be alive during this pivotal era in history.

Richard Wurmbrand (March 24, 1909 - February 17, 2001) was a Romanian Christian minister of Jewish descent. He was a youth during a time of anti-Semitic activity in Romania, but it was later, after becoming a believer in Jesus Christ as Messiah, and daring to publicly say that Communism and Christianity were not compatible, that he experienced imprisonment and torture for his beliefs. After serving five years of a second prison sentence, he was ransomed for $10,000. After spending time in Norway and England, he and his wife Sabina, who had also been imprisoned, emigrated to America and dedicated the rest of their lives to publicizing and helping Christians who are persecuted for their beliefs. He wrote more than eighteen books, translated into more than 60 languages, the most widely known being "Tortured for Christ." He founded the international organization, Voice Of The Martyrs, which aids Christians around the world who are persecuted for their faith.

What’s considered the worst crime and who’s the most hated person in America? Most would say child sexual abuse and the pedophile. The principle’s everywhere. How do we normally deal with it? To put it poetically: to go over Thor’s face in the United States and overlook God, the truth of the matter, repeat the vampire. Tonight on Television, a book of poetry, goes to the heart of the matter, the creation of the pedophile and proposes stopping the process where it starts, which is in the caring for of infants and toddlers. It employs the ideal of oneness, non-duality, instead of the formula of crime and punishment, in dealing with that, how it addresses the whole issue, paying particular attention to the hatred of the pedophile and the damage that does to society, which is not only the proliferation of child sex abuse, which, it must be said, the poem aims to stop. I’m the fellow, aren’t I? I’ve spent many years studying the issue, first in university, where, after getting a BA in English and minor in History (University of Houston, 1988), I spent three and a half years learning Classical Greek, translating Greek poetry into English verse, not only to learn the writing of poetry, but to access knowledge on ancient Greek sexuality in particular and on the formation of the human ego and sexual orientation in general, doing a self-study on the latter two by reading extensively in a variety of pertinent subjects. Then I did an unorthodox fieldwork for several years after Ieaving college in 1993, becoming a vagabond first in the United States and then the world, spending 10 years living in over 27 countries on 4 continents, during which time I paid particular attention to what when down in the families I lived with, as, being an adventure traveler, I usually lived and worked with the local population. You don't believe an autodidact can be an expert? Hey, I’m not just the One, whom everybody is; I’m the one to show you the world.

Palestine: A Socialist Introduction systematically tackles a number of important aspects of the Palestinian struggle for liberation, contextualizing it in an increasingly polarized world and offering a socialist perspective on how full liberation can be won.

Through an internationalist, anti-imperialist lens, this book explores the links between the struggle for freedom in the United States and that in Palestine, and beyond. It examines both the historical and contemporary trajectory of the Palestine solidarity movement in order to glean lessons for today's organizers, and compellingly lays out the argument that, in order to achieve justice in Palestine, the movement has to take up the question of socialism regionally and internationally.

After receiving a doctorate in medicine, Le Bon travelled in Europe, North Africa, and Asia and wrote several books on anthropology and archaeology. His interests later shifted to natural science and social psychology. Gustave Le Bon is best known for his seminal work „Crowd Psychology“ where he describes the psychological effects in various group settings. In „Psychology of Peoples“ written in 1894 he utilizes his anthropological knowledge and cross-references it with social psychology. He developed a view that history is the product of racial or national character, with emotion, not intelligence, being the dominant force in social evolution. He attributed true progress to the work of an intellectual elite. As a product of its time and conditions, the content of this book is partly highly controversial and should be seen as an intellectual challenge. Some arguments should be outright rejected, cause they haven’t stood the test of time. To his credit, already back in 1894 Le Bon foresaw the dangers of the application of socialism, well before the Russian Revolution and Mao’s takeover of China.
