Synopsis

The late Victorian artist John William Waterhouse produced stunning paintings of women from ancient mythology, Shakespearean drama and Arthurian legend. The darling of the Royal Academy, where he exhibited almost every year throughout his long career, Waterhouse completed artworks that were celebrated for their rich, glowing colour and veiled eroticism. Embracing the style of the Pre-Raphaelite Brotherhood, which had split up several decades before, Waterhouse depicted dramatic, beautiful and haunting female figures, perfecting his own vision of the all-powerful femme fatale. His paintings embrace a dreamy, romantic manner, with a sensuous handling of paint that gave them a unique identity. Delphi’s Masters of Art Series presents the world’s first digital e-Art books, allowing readers to explore the works of great artists in comprehensive detail. This volume presents Waterhouse’s complete paintings in beautiful detail, with concise introductions, hundreds of high quality images and the usual Delphi bonus material. (Version 1)

    TRIVIA SAMPLES:

“Spike Jonze, stuck in the editing process with an early 150-minute cut, asked Steven Soderbergh to edit it down. Soderbergh returned within 24 hours with a 90-minute cut, which helped Jonze finalize the film’s 126-minute runtime.”

“Director Spike Jonze loved his role as Alien Child so much that he would often give notes to his editor and producer while staying in character.”

“This is the only film written and directed by Spike Jonze, entirely based on his original script.”

“Charlie Kaufman contributed some uncredited screenwriting to the film.”

“The airplane sculpture featured in a square outside the Pacific Design Center was entirely created using CGI. There is no such sculpture at the actual location in West Hollywood.”

Do Not Adjust Your Set is a 60s comedy show comprised mostly of satirical sketches, often presented in a bizarre, surreal and disjointed manner- much like that of Monty Python, a succeeding show which several of the cast became part of.
An important Monty Python predecessor and arguably one of the finest children's sketch comedies ever produced, DNAYS is certainly something you do not want to miss...
This volume features a compilation of classic sketches from the show, including:

From a fine art photographer, a collection of photographs capturing images of the Buddha around the world.    Whether in the heart of Asia or a farm in the American heartland, the Buddha image never seems out of place. As a reminder to stop and live in the moment, it is as appropriate as a charm around the neck of a young Thai soldier as on a car dashboard. Photographs of the Buddha in various incarnations—traditional statuary, toys, garden ornaments, jewelry, tattoos—demonstrate that the Buddha is seemingly everywhere, if one cultivates the proper awareness. By turns beautiful, quirky, ironic, and meditative, Kalisher’s images in If You Find the Buddha speak not only to the omnipresence of the spiritual icon, but also to our capacity to be surprised and delighted by the unexpected. With an insightful essay by noted author and traveler Jeff Greenwald, the striking photographs in this book delight and enlighten in equal measure.

“An affectionate portrait, one that recognizes Watts as musician, colleague, family man, obsessive collector and immaculate dresser.”—Sunday Times
“Sexton, a longtime Stones chronicler, tells Watts’s story with warmth and diligence.”—Observer
The fully authorized and official biography of legendary Rolling Stones drummer Charlie Watts, one of the world’s most revered and celebrated musicians of the last half century.
Forewords by Mick Jagger and Keith Richards
Charlie Watts was one of the most decorated musicians in the world, having joined the Rolling Stones, a few months after their formation, early in 1963.
A student of jazz drumming, he was headhunted by the band after bumping into them regularly in London’s rhythm and blues clubs. Once installed at the drum seat, he didn’t miss a gig, album or tour in his 60 years in the band. He was there throughout the swinging sixties, the early shot at superstardom and the Stones' world conquest; and throughout the debauchery of the 1970s, typified by 1972's Exile on Main St., considered one of the great albums of the century. By the 1980s, Charlie was battling his own demons, but emerged unscathed to enhance his unparalleled reputation even further over the ensuing decades.
Watts went through band bust-ups, bereavements and changes in personnel, managers, guitarists and rhythm sections, but remained the rock at the heart of the Rolling Stones for nearly 60 years—the thoughtful, intellectual but no less compelling counterpoint to the raucousness of his bandmates Keith Richards, Mick Jagger and Ronnie Wood. And this is his story.
