Summary

Religious fervour culminates in an exorcism for one unfortunate maid. A harrowing encounter on a train haunts Añuli. A mother abandons her child in search of personal freedom. A wife joins her husband, only to be met with news that threatens their relationship.

This richly imagined collage of interconnected stories follows Prosperous and Agu, and the motley community of Nigerian expats who gather at their apartment each week. Their reality is one of dashed hopes, twisted love and the pain of homesickness, even as they fight to make their way in this new world.
Better Never Than Late is a layered and affecting portrayal of the everyday absurdities and adversities of migrant life.
Available since: 09/24/2019.

Deadknobs and Doomsticks is a collection of 13 short horror stories by I'm a Celebrity Get Me out of Here's "King of the Jungle" and one of the UK's favourite comedians, Joe Pasquale. Ranging from the darkly bizarre to the horrifically surreal, many of the stories are laced with a theme of bullying and bullies. Dark undertones and malevolent overtones interweave with characters and situations that pull the listener to the edge of their seat. Wit and black humor is prevalent through the stories, each with a delicious payoff for the reader. Joe Pasquale shows that where there is laughter there is also a dark and disturbing voice that is drawn to the horror genre to find its release. Joe shows he has as unique a voice in the world of horror writing as in comedy.

    It's history!
It's what we can still learn from today.
Three stories of obscure Canadians come alive as they are told in the first person. An incident that was recorded as happening on the prairie in the late 1800s is told as a humor piece. Letters found in a local museum are turned into an overview of the tragedy that was World War I. Finally, we remember the efforts of Donald Carruthers to found the Manitoba Agricultural Museum.
Illustrated with vintage photographs, this is a collection suitable for anyone interested in history...or simply anyone who enjoys a unique story about real people.

Stranded on a desert island, a young man yearns for objects from his past. A local from a small coastal town in England is found dead as the tide goes out. A Norwegian whaling ship is stranded in the Arctic, its crew threatened by mysterious forces. In the nineteenth century, a ship drifts in becalmed waters in the Indian Ocean, those on it haunted by their evil deeds. A surfer turned diver discovers there are things worse than drowning under the sea. Something from the sea is creating monsters on land.
In The Devil and the Deep, award-winning editor Ellen Datlow shares an all-original anthology of horror that covers the depths of the deep blue sea, with brand new stories from New York Times bestsellers and award-winning authors such as Seanan McGuire, Christopher Golden, Stephen Graham Jones, and more.

There is something about the number 3.

The Ancient Greeks believed 3 was the perfect number, and in China 3 has always been a lucky number, and they know a thing or two.

Most religions also have 3 this and 3 that and, of course, in these more modern times, three’s a crowd may be too many, except when it’s a ménage à trois. It seems good things usually come in threes.

Whatever history and culture says WE think 3, a hat-trick of stories, is a great number to explore themes and literary avenues that classic authors were so adept at creating.
