  Kushite civilization was heavily influenced by its relationship with Egypt, but it also maintained distinct cultural and political traditions. Early Kushite settlements date back to around 2500 BCE, and by the time of the Egyptian Middle and New Kingdoms, Kush had grown into a formidable power.
