The With an introduction by Michael Phillips.George MacDonald once declared, "I do not write for children, but for the childlike, whether of five, or 50, or 75."The Day Boy and the Night Girl is a splendid example of such writing. With words of wonder, beauty, and adventure, and with acute spiritual insight and sensitivity, MacDonald spins an enchanting tale of two children, a boy and a girl, who grow up from infancy in the castle of a witch. Unaware of each other's presence in the castle, the children are victims of an unnatural design upon them, in which the boy is never to know the night, and the girl is never to know the day. The boy is therefore scrupulously compelled to be indoors before sunset. And the girl is locked away in the dim, forlorn chambers carved in the rock beneath the castle. It is not until they reach adolescence that the two meet, quite unexpectedly, and quickly become aware that they must rely on one another if they are ever to escape the cruel and violent fury of the witch.

The Wall Of Darkness by Arthur C. Clarke - Ages ago the First Dynasty had walled up half the planet, and left no hint of their terrible reason... Only Shervane dared to surmount that mile-high barrier, and learn the mind-shattering truth that lay beyond.
Many and strange are the universes that drift like bubbles in the foam upon the river of time. Some–a very few–move against or athwart its current; and fewer still are those that lie forever beyond its reach, knowing nothing of the future or the past.

I hope that you will find the information helpful, useful and profitable.
When most people hear the phrase martial arts, they usually think of those of the Far East, and it is true that most of the ancient martial arts that people have heard of did originate there. However, most countries also developed fighting skills may centuries ago. For example, boxing and wrestling featured in the Olympic Games in Greece thousands of years ago.
However, there are also more modern recognised martial arts like French kick-boxing, Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu, Korean Tae Kwando and Japanese Aikido. If you search online for `x martial art`, where X is your target country, you will discover more.
So far, we have only mentioned physical martial arts. There are also others like archery and javelin throwing. In other words, most people`s understanding on the phrase `martial arts` is too limited. One should think of `martial` as war(fare) and `arts` as skills or methods. It opens up the scope of the words.
The information in this ebook on various aspects of martial arts both Eastern and Western is organised into 16 chapters of about 500-600 words each.
