Natalie Wood
I was born in Salga, Sao Miguel, Azores, and came to Canada when I was three. Coming to a different country at such a young age was not easy, especially attending school at six and not being able to speak the English language. I was very fortunate at that time to have a wonderful and empathetic teacher in grade 1. The countless lunch hours and recess times she spent helping me learn the language have not been forgotten, nor has the encouragement she gave me.
